By the end of this course delegates will have gained skills in setting up a project plan; working with task dependencies, resources, updating actuals and printing a project plan. The course can also be taken as a 1 day course without the practical exercise sessions.
Microsoft Project Essentials Course Content
Module One – Overview
Project Management Fundamentals, Microsoft Project Environment, Views, Tables.
Module Two – Creating a Project Plan
Create a New Plan, Setting Project Working Time, Project Information, Base Calendar, Summary Stages, Task Lists, Work Breakdown Structure, Automatic v Manual Scheduling, Constraints, Deadlines, Recurring Activities, Critical Path.
Module Three – Tasks, Milestones and Notes
Entering tasks, Subtasks, Summary Tasks, Milestones, Project Summary Task, Durations, Dependencies; Finish-to-start (fs), Startto-start (ss), Start-to-finish (sf), Leads, Lags, Task Table Types, Notes.
Module Four – Managing Resources in a Project Plan
Types, Calendars, Resource Tables, Availability, Costs, Assigning, Effort Driven Scheduling, Overallocations, Splitting Tasks.
Module Five – Using Views
Changing views, Gantt chart, Calendar, Network diagram, Task usage, Resource graph, Resource sheet, Resource usage, Split Views
Module Six – Project Tracking
Setting a Project Baseline, Updating Baseline, Entering Actuals, Viewing Progress in a Project Plan
Module Seven – Viewing and Reporting Project Information
Filter, Group and Highlight Project Information, Viewing Standard Reports in Microsoft Project.
Module Eight – Formatting and Printing
Formatting Text, Text Styles, Gantt Chart, Printing the Gantt Chart, Printing Views.
Who should take this Microsoft Project Essentials course?
This course is designed for a person who has an understanding of Project Management concepts, who is responsible for creating and modifying project plans, and who needs a tool to manage these project plans.
